Digital Dental X-Rays
in Houston, TX
A clearer look at what's happening beneath your teeth and gums, with very low radiation and results we explain in plain English.
What Are Dental X-Rays?
Seeing What an Exam Alone Can't Show
A dental X-ray is a quick image that lets us see what the eye can't, including what is happening under your teeth and gums. It can reveal early decay, infection, impacted teeth, and bone loss well before any of those turn into bigger, more expensive problems.
The radiation level is very low, and we use the safest approach possible for patients of all ages. Most importantly, we keep it simple: we explain what we see in plain English and only recommend the imaging you truly need.

Problems we catch before you feel them
Why Choose Dentiq Dentistry for Dental X-Rays
Most patients can safely get dental X-rays, and we keep exposure low. Before we recommend any imaging, we review your medical history so we only take what you actually need and feel comfortable with. If you would rather wait, we'll tell you honestly what that means for your care.
Everything is done in-house, from routine digital X-rays to CBCT 3D scans for surgical planning, so there are no referrals out for imaging. And we review the images on screen with you, in plain English, rather than explaining a diagnosis you never got to see.

Yes. The radiation level from a digital dental X-ray is very low, and we use the safest approach possible for patients of all ages, including a protective apron and only the views you actually need.
It depends on your history and risk of decay. Depending on your needs, we may recommend updated X-rays at regular visits to help catch problems early, but we never take images just because it's been a while.
Underlying tooth decay, root infections, bone loss, and impacted wisdom teeth are the main ones. All four are things a visual exam alone cannot reliably show.
No. The sensor sits inside your mouth for a few seconds at a time. Some people find it slightly awkward against the roof of the mouth, and we can reposition it if it feels uncomfortable.
Tell us before your appointment and we'll plan around it. Routine imaging is usually postponed until after delivery, though urgent situations are handled case by case with extra shielding. This is exactly why we review your medical history first. If a 3D view is needed later for treatment planning, our CBCT scanner and digital scanning are both available in-house, so nothing gets referred out.
For most purposes, yes. Digital images use less radiation, appear on screen within seconds instead of needing chemical developing, and can be enlarged and enhanced so we can review them with you in detail.
It's your decision, and we'll respect it. We will explain what we can and cannot assess without imaging so you can make an informed choice, and we'll note anything we're unable to rule out.
Routine X-rays are commonly included as part of preventive care under most plans. Dentiq Dentistry works with most major PPO insurance plans and is happy to verify your coverage before your visit.
