Repair A Tooth Without Overthinking It

A dental crown is a custom cover that fits over a damaged or weakened tooth to restore strength and appearance.

If a tooth is cracked, broken, worn down, or has had a root canal, a crown may be the best way to protect it long-term. Crowns help prevent further damage while improving the tooth’s shape, size, and overall look.

With good care, most crowns can last for many years before needing to be replaced.

The Best Way To Save A Damaged Tooth

A dental crown can help in a few different situations, but the most common is when a tooth is cracked, fractured, or has broken.

Crowns are also often recommended after a root canal, since that tooth can become more fragile over time.

If a tooth has a large filling or deep decay, a crown may be the safer long-term choice to protect it, restore strength, and help you chew comfortably again.

Could A Crown Save Your Tooth?

Dr. Sista will examine your tooth and explain whether a crown is the right fix or if a simpler option will work.

If a crown is needed, it’s usually best to take care of it sooner rather than later to prevent the tooth from cracking or getting worse.

If you have an older crown that’s worn, loose, or doesn’t look right anymore, we can replace it here in the office on a schedule that works for you.

Crowns can be used on almost any tooth that needs strength, protection, or a fresh start.

How The Crown Process Works

First, we numb the area so you stay comfortable the whole time. Dr. Sista then reshapes the tooth just enough to make room for the crown and takes precise impressions so your new crown fits the way it should.

You’ll leave with a temporary crown while the final one is made. At your next visit, we remove the temporary and securely place your custom crown, checking the fit and bite so it feels natural.

With good care, a crown can protect your tooth for many years and help your smile look and function the way it should.
